February 21, 2018, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Reese News Lab 'Machine Learning for News Reporting' introduces the growing field of Machine Learning and digs into its real world applications. Graduate statistics student Scott Smith will go over his methodology for his project related to NC voter data, and show how it can create interesting news stories. Those who attend this event will have the opportunity a date soon after to participate in a mini-“hackathon” to help accomplish tasks on the project, a wonderful opportunity to see the intersection between journalism, computer science, and statistics.
