George Watts Hill Alumni Center, Chapel Hill

The Burnett Seminar services parents of teens and young adults with ADHD/LD as well as teachers and professionals who work with them, and anyone interested in learning differences. Its mission is to inspire this population that success in life is possible.

The theme of the 19th Annual Timothy B. and Jane A. Burnett Seminar for Academic Achievement is "We’re Not Broken — Changing the Autism Conversation: A Conversation about Academic Success." This seminar features Eric Garcia ’14, a UNC Hussman graduate and journalist covering politics in Washington, D.C. He uses his life experience as an autistic person as a springboard to discuss what many autistic people have been saying for years: autism is a part of their identity; they don’t need to be fixed.
