Erica Perel, director of the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Local Media (CISLM), will take part in a virtual McCain Institute for International Leadership panel discussion Friday, Feb. 18, 2022: "Is The Loss of Local Journalism Endangering American Democracy?" The discussion will look at how Americans can regain trust in local media outlets to strengthen American democracy.
This panel is part of the Defending American Democracy series with support from The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
CISLM, located within the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, supports established and emerging local news organizations through applied research on economic sustainability and entrepreneurship as well as innovative news and digital product solutions.
