Hussman School students are invited to meet three public relations leaders in the fields of consumer technology/trade association public relations, public affairs/agency leadership and analyst relations, who will be guest lecturing in Edgar Thomas Cato Distinguished Professor of Public Relations Rick Clancy's "MEJO 531: Case Studies in Public Relations" class sections in the Spring 2018 semester.

Jeff Joseph, senior vice president of communications and strategic relationships at the Consumer Technology Association (the organization responsible for the annual Consumer Electronics Show), will make his second visit to the Hussman School on Monday, Jan. 22.

Holly Barnett, vice president for analyst relations — as in marketing and technology research analysts (e.g., Gartner, Forrester, etc.) — at Allison + Partners, will visit Monday, March 19. Barnett formerly worked at IBM.

Hussman School tours are scheduled so that visitors have the option of enjoying a complete UNC campus tour led by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions either before or after a 30-minute visit to Carroll Hall.

Tours during the fall and spring semesters are led by the Hussman School Ambassadors and include a visit from Charlie Tuggle, senior associate dean for undergraduate studies. Tours depart from the main lobby on the first floor of Carroll Hall. Feel free to reserve a spot in advance — or you can just show up! Reservations are not required for tours during the academic year.

Spring 2018:

Tours will be held on Fridays at 12:30 p.m. beginning Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, and running through Friday, April 27, 2018. Additional tours will be held on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. beginning Monday, March 19, 2018, and running through Monday, April 23, 2018. No tours will be held during Spring Break (March 12-16, 2018), Good Friday (March 30, 2018) and any other time that the University is closed (including inclement weather).

On Friday, March 23, the UNC Center for Media Law and Policy will host an interdisciplinary lunch open to faculty and graduate students across the UNC system with Deen Freelon, associate professor in the School of Media and Journalism. Freelon will lead a discussion on tracking and analyzing the Russian influence operation on Twitter, which became a topic of debate following the 2016 presidential election cycle.

Please download Mozilla Firefox browser to your laptop prior to test date/time as it is best suited to Sakai programming and recommended for testing. Use different browser at own risk and be prepared for possible consequences such as unrecorded answers/score and necessity to retest.

The school's Usage and Grammar Test is designed to evaluate word usage, and grammar and punctuation competencies. It is a timed 50-minute test given electronically in Sakai that consists of 60 usage, 30 grammar and 10 punctuation multiple-choice questions. Allow approximately one hour in your schedule. Click here to access additional resources and learn more about the Usage & Grammar Test.

Registration opens Friday, March 16, at 8 a.m. and closes Thursday, March 22, at 4 p.m.

After registration closes, waitlisted students should be prepared to respond to a time-sensitive email up to 30 minutes prior to test time to secure any late-vacated seats.

Cancellations prior to closing: Cancel your test registration by accessing the Mobile Summary via your registration confirmation email.
