The Carolina Sports Journalism Camp is now accepting applications. Rising high school juniors and seniors with an interest in sports and media are encouraged to apply. This camp will include instructional sessions on sports broadcasting, sports writing, sports photography and much, much more.
The Carolina Sports Journalism Camp will include practice in the field and will feature sports reporters and sports personalities. Students will take a behind-the-scenes tour of UNC’s sports media facilities. They will cover a press conference, write a sports feature story and experience what it's like to work on a sports media deadline.
Lead instructor Tim Crothers is a former senior writer for Sports Illustrated and author of three books: "The Man Watching;" co-author with Roy Williams on Williams' autobiography, "Hard Work: A Life On and Off the Court;" and "The Queen of Katwe," which has been made into a Disney feature film. His work has also appeared in New York Times Magazine and ESPN The Magazine.
Last year's #CSJC2020 students encourage you to apply: "Attending the 2020 Carolina Sports Journalism Camp was one of the best decisions I have ever made," writes Miranda Harris of New Jersey. And Nolan Wick of Maryland says, “I significantly improved as a journalist because of this camp, and I encourage anyone who is interested in sports journalism to apply."
