Yan Qu is a Ph.D. student at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. His research examines public engagement, dialogue and corporate social responsibility through social network theories and methods. He has published in American Behavioral Scientist, Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media and Public Relations Review. Yan's dissertation is about developing a theoretical model to explicate how individuals’ personal social networks influence their engagement with a social issue and issue-related organizations.
