Current employees

SHRA employees are paid biweekly (every other Friday) and EHRA employees are paid monthly (usually the last business day of the month). For information on when you will be paid, please refer to the UNC Employee Calendar and the Payroll Services website to find the appropriate pay schedule.

All University employees are paid via direct deposit. You can review and update your direct deposit and tax forms at any time via Self Service in ConnectCarolina. If you choose to make a change to your direct deposit accounts, you will receive an email sent to your University email account acknowledging the change. You can expect your account change to be effective within two pay periods, but depending on the timing of the account change, it may occur as soon as your next paycheck.

You can also set up multiple accounts for direct deposit.

Each January the University produces and distributes the paper W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement) forms to all employees. In addition, employees can view and download current and past copies of their W-2 forms through Self Service in ConnectCarolina.

Please consider opting out of receiving a paper W-2 form to help the University go green while increasing our efficiency.

Employees who wish to park on campus must obtain a parking permit and pay the associated fee(s). To review parking options and costs, please visit the UNC Parking and Transportation page and the Weeknight Parking Program page

  • Permanent employees: The school has spaces allocated in various lots across campus. Please contact Human Resources Consultant Dina Sikora to inquire about available parking permit options.

Permanent employees can add/remove dependents from their health insurance plan annually during open enrollment. They can also add or remove a dependent from their plan anytime throughout the year as long as a qualifying life event has occurred. Examples of qualifying life events include birth, marriage, dependent gaining/losing coverage on another plan, etc.

Employees can add/remove a dependent through Self Service in ConnectCarolina under “My Benefits.” To add/remove a dependent outside of open enrollment, documentation will need to be provided to verify the qualifying life event. Please contact OHR Benefits at (919) 962-3071 for additional information.

Permanent University employees accrue eight hours of sick leave each month. They also accrue vacation leave depending on the position type and years of service with the State of North Carolina. Other types of leave are available to permanent employees as well for special circumstances, including community service leave, civil leave (jury duty), military leave and family medical leave. The University designates certain days as paid holidays for permanent employees.
