UNC Hussman faculty in First Amendment Day panel featured in The Well

UNC’s The Well  has a story about the "Weaponizing First Amendment Rhetoric" panel held Sept. 21, 2022, during First Amendment Day, an annual campus-wide, daylong event designed to both celebrate the First Amendment and explore its role in the lives of students.

The panel discussion, held in Carroll Hall’s Freedom Forum Conference Center, featured UNC Hussman faculty Edgar Thomas Cato Distinguished Professor Daniel Kreiss and Assistant Professor Shannon McGregor, as well as their colleagues at the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life (CITAP).

As Susan Hudson writes in the article: “What happens when the First Amendment gets co-opted by people with bad intentions? And what can be done about it? Those were some of the questions addressed by a panel of experts during one of several events held Sept. 21 for the University’s 13th First Amendment Day celebration, organized by the UNC Center for Media Law and Policy.”
