Alum wins AEJMC award for best mass communication dissertation

Scott Parrott, a 2013 UNC doctoral graduate, was honored with AEJMC’s Nafziger-White-Salwen Dissertation Award for best mass communication dissertation. It marks the third consecutive year a UNC student has won the award.

The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media will honor eight leaders in journalism and strategic communication in an Oct. 10 induction ceremony in Chapel Hill for the N.C. Halls of Fame for Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations.
The 2014 N.C. Halls of Fame inductee class includes:
•       Harry Amana, UNC professor emeritus, first black UNC journalism professor (journalism)

UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media professors Barbara Friedman and Anne Johnston won the Donna Allen Award for Feminist Advocacy for The Irina Project, which they co-direct, and its advocacy for the responsible and accurate reporting of sex trafficking.

Van Houten wins Hearst national championship in multimedia, Shelton third in radio
