J-school project wins Knight Foundation grant to launch searchable N.C. General Assembly archive and alert system

The J-school’s Reese News Lab has been awarded $35,000 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for Capitol Hound — a Web application that will offer searchable North Carolina General Assembly transcripts. The funding was provided through the Knight Prototype Fund.

Charles Sumner “Chuck” Stone Jr., celebrated local journalist and educator, who was intrigued with the world and life died April 6, 2014.
The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media and his children - Krishna, Allegra and Charles III - invite you to celebrate his life with family, friends and colleagues in Chapel Hill, N.C., on May 3. The memorial will begin at 1 p.m. in Carroll Hall on the UNC campus.
