Carolina wins back-to-back national championships in collegiate journalism

The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media finished first overall in the Intercollegiate Competition of the Hearst Journalism Awards, often called the Pulitzers of college journalism, for the second year in a row. The win was announced during a June 8 ceremony in San Francisco.

High school journalism workshop scheduled for June 13-16 at UNC

N.C. Scholastic Media Association will host its annual four-day journalism Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill June 13-16.
All interested high school students and their teachers are encouraged to participate. The Monday-through-Thursday workshop is designed to teach creative and efficient ways to communicate through high school newspapers, yearbooks, literary magazines and broadcasts.

Public relations students win NCPRSA Award of Excellence

Four UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media public relations students were recognized at the North Carolina Public Relations Society of America (NCPRSA) 2011 Inspire Awards dinner on May 11.  The students – Amy Dobrzynski, Stacy Merrick, Hannah Harrill and Elizabeth Graper – received an Award of Excellence for their grassroots campaign "Grow Your Green" designed to educate women on financial literacy.

Online MATC gets 100 percent acceptance rate for inaugural class

The school's new online Master of Arts in Technology and Communication had a 100 percent acceptance rate for its inaugural group of students, who will start their coursework in August.
