UNC Hussman Career Services’ virtual internship fair delivers real-world advice

Even in a virtual environment, the career services staff at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media is still connecting students to the real-world experiences that lead them to job opportunities and career success. This fall, UNC Hussman Career Services held its annual student-to-student internship fair virtually with a panel of students who shared their internship experiences and answered questions about the ins and outs of finding internships, as well as navigating the unique challenges of interning remotely.

Three UNC Hussman scholars with expertise in digital political communication — Deen Freelon, Daniel Kreiss and Shannon McGregor — continue to be called on by media sources across the country to weigh in and provide context on-air and in print for the lightning-quick changes taking place in the social media sphere in reaction to the violent calls, either directly on social platforms or amplified there, to overtake the United States Capitol and disrupt the Electoral College vote count on January 6.

UNC Hussman Teaching Assistant Professor Livis Freeman and his fall  “Public Relations Campaigns” class took on UNC live mascot Rameses and his longtime family of caretakers at Hogan’s Magnolia View Farms as a client. Thanks to the students’ proposals, the family sees a lot of new opportunities for working with the young ram that Ann Hogan Leonard describes as “just so good and so very gentle, he just took so well to the training.”
