A project team from the UNC School of Media and Journalism has been named a semi-finalist in "AI and the News: An Open Challenge" — a call for innovative solutions to reshape the landscape of news with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

The University will be closed for Winter Break from Dec. 24-28, for New Year's Eve on Monday, Dec. 31, and for New Year's Day on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

This is the ninth year MJ-school students will compete with one another to win over their semester client, Fox Sports, with a unique public relations campaign.

UPDATE: According to the Alert Carolina announcement made on Monday, Dec. 10, at 5:46 p.m., the University will stay in Condition 2 until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Exams within the MJ-school originally scheduled to begin prior to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, will be rescheduled on a course-by-course basis.
