The UNC School of Media and Journalism is searching for an outstanding assistant or associate professor to conduct research and teach in its internationally renowned media law and policy program.

The UNC School of Media and Journalism seeks a data scientist to work with students, faculty and industry in the Reese News Lab. This is a full-time, 12-month non-faculty position that is funded by a three-year grant from the Knight Foundation.

The UNC School of Media and Journalism granted more than $2.01 million total in undergraduate and graduate scholarships, awards and Roy H. Park Fellowships in the 2016-17 academic year.

This Research Assistant will assist the Knight Chair in Journalism and Digital Media Economics in administrative and research activities. S/he will have exceptional attention to detail, organizational and time management skills with demonstrated experience working with complex databases. S/he will be responsible for the Knight Chair’s nationally recognized newspaper database, ensuring it is accurate and accessible to academics and industry users.

From covering the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro to being invited to Super Bowl Media Week in Houston, students traveled to 19 cities across four different continents in 2016-17, reporting on local news, learning about the international media markets and networking with alumni.
