Less than 12 years after graduating from the UNC School of Media and Journalism with a degree in journalism and mass communication and an interest in investigative and business reporting, Emily Steel ’06 on April 16, 2018, joined an illustrious list of Pulitzer Prize winners affiliated with the MJ-school.

Visionary North Carolina corporate and community leader James Fletcher “Jim” Goodmon (b. 1943), long a generous benefactor and advocate for ethical and responsible communications, will be recognized by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the University’s 2018 Spring Commencement on Sunday, May 13, in Kenan Stadium.

Susan King, dean of the UNC School of Media Journalism, sent a letter to Sinclair Broadcast Group Executive Chairman David Smith on Wednesday, April 11, outlining her concerns on the issue surrounding Sinclair station anchors reading a statement that includes accusations that other news outlets publish “fake news.”

UNC School of Media and Journalism alumna Pamela Brown ’06 gained national prominence as a weekend anchor at ABC affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. Seven years later, she joined CNN, most recently as CNN’s senior White House correspondent and a fill-in anchor for “CNN Newsroom.”
