UNC J-school students won 11 awards at the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) annual convention held Nov. 14.

UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication students won 10 awards in the 69th College Photographer of the Year competition, including first place in the large group multimedia category — a category UNC has topped every year since its creation six years ago.

"Crash Campaign" — a 24-hour student-created and student-led competition — brought together more than 70 UNC students to help four local businesses solve their marketing dilemmas.

The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media hosted 20 journalists from the Near East and North Africa from Oct. 30 - Nov. 4 as part of the 2014 Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists.

Four UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication undergraduates were honored at the N.C. Governor’s Mansion Oct. 22 for their leading roles in producing the 2015 Heritage Calendar, celebrating the African-American experience in North Carolina.

UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media doctoral student Laura Marshall won two awards, including Outstanding Paper on Media and War, at the annual American Journalism Historians Association (AJHA) conference Oct. 9-11 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Four UNC J-school alumni were part of teams honored in the New Approaches categories of the 35th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards.
