Chris Wallace to deliver Hussman School's 2017 Roy H. Park Distinguished Lecture

Chris Wallace, anchor of Fox News Sunday, will give this year’s Roy H. Park Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, April 6, at the UNC School of Media and Journalism. The lecture — America Under President Trump: A View From Washington — will be held in the Carroll Hall auditorium beginning at 5 p.m.

Hussman School senior recognized with scholarship for excellence in editing

UNC School of Media and Journalism student Danny Nett is one of five winners of scholarships from the American Copy Editors Society (ACES). Nett, a senior from Greensboro, will receive a $1,500 scholarship and free registration and travel assistance to attend the ACES national conference in St. Petersburg, Florida, in March.

Ryan Thornburg named Reese News Lab director, Steven King to serve as chief innovation officer

Associate Professor Ryan Thornburg has assumed the duties of Reese News Lab director at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Assistant Professor Steven King will take on the role of the lab’s chief innovation officer.

Hussman School’s V-Lab assesses communication needs of GE Hitachi nuclear energy plant

The Hussman School’s Visual Language Lab partnered with the GE Hitachi nuclear energy plant to work on an eightweek communications assessment of the millennial demographic in order to help market GEH’s PRISM advanced reactor and increase nuclear energy awareness. Students traveled to Wilmington to tour the GEH nuclear power plant. They then followed a loose creative process that allowed their ideas to evolve and solidify into final recommendations that the GEH executives embraced.

Investigative reporter and former Park Fellow Nikole Hannah-Jones ’03 (M.A.) will deliver the MJ-school Spring Commencement address on Saturday, May 13, one day before fellow alumna Brooke Baldwin '01 takes the stage in Kenan Memorial Stadium for all of UNC.
