William Thomas Ballard Jr. (Bill), 79, died March 6, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. A memorial service was held on March 9 at Providence United Methodist Church.
Bill belonged to Providence for 47 years. He also was a journalist. His career included serving as news director for WBTV; under his leadership, the station was the first news room in the country to be computerized. In earlier years, he had been a reporter, and his WBTV work included the “Carolina Camera” series.
