Love your job? It might be time for grad school

It may seem counterintuitive, but if your job is going well and you love doing it, now might be the time to apply to the UNC School of Media and Journalism’s M.A. in Digital Communication program. The online program is designed to let ambitious students maintain work and family responsibilities while refining media, communications and leadership skills. MJ-school graduate Danielle Passingham ’14 (M.A.) is a case in point.

Alum credits online master's for article on Russian propaganda

Two-time UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media graduate John Frank '04, '16 (M.A.) credited the school's online master's program with preparing him to analyze more than 200,000 Russian propaganda tweets for a Feb. 19 Denver Post article. The article connected Russian Twitter content to Colorado voter interference, finding that the state was a target of Kremlin-backed propaganda efforts.

It's #UNCMATC defense season

It's the end of the fall semester at UNC-Chapel Hill, which means more working professionals are finishing up the MATC program.

Nine students, all of whom began the online, part-time master's program in the fall 2014 semester, defended their final thesis projects in late November and early December. They are officially graduating this month and will be honored in the spring at the School of Media and Journalism's commencement ceremony.

MATC helps communications manager keep pace with changing tech

Montague is a second-year student in the online UNC Master of Arts in Technology and Communication program. In a recent Linkedin blog post, she credits her studies—and her classmates—with helping her keep up with the pace of technological change.

Third MATC cohort celebrates commencement

The third Master of Arts in Technology and Communication cohort graduated from the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media in Saturday’s commencement ceremony at Carmichael Arena.

Seventeen students completed the MATC program during the 2015-16 academic year, and 14 returned to campus for the ceremony, which featured an address by longtime political journalist Cokie Roberts. The celebration began with a lunch reception for graduates and their families in Carroll Hall, home of the Hussman School.
