Christopher Pereira

Christopher Pereira is a software industry attorney, practicing corporate and transactional law, with prior experience in the financial services industry. He specializes in negotiating complex technology transactions, helping highly regulated entities meet their regulatory compliance and information security obligations. He has presented within the legal profession on artificial intelligence law, cloud computing, SaaS contracting, privacy and data protection.

Pereira’s areas of academic expertise include constitutional law, contract law, privacy law, and the philosophy of ethics. His research interests include internet privacy, the evolution of first amendment rights in the digital age, and the general effect of the proliferation of digital literacy within society. He teaches Media Law in the UNC Hussman School of Media and Journalism. In addition to his position at Carolina, he has been an adjunct professor at Queens University in Charlotte for over a decade, teaching Media Law and Ethics, as well as Mass Communication Theory, and was an instructor at The Washington Post Company.
