Spring Research Colloquium
UNC Hussman and the Hussman Graduate Student Association celebrate the end of the academic year and the accomplishments of the school’s graduate students with the Spring Research Colloquium, to be held May 29 in the Freedom Forum Conference Center (Carroll 305). The event will feature research presentations by current graduate students and a keynote address by Jessica Gall Myrick ’13 (Ph.D.), senior clinical scientist at Cook Research, concluding with the presentation of graduate student awards.
KEYNOTE

Jessica Gall Myrick is both a social scientist and clinical scientist working to improve health outcomes from an interdisciplinary approach. She has 16 years of professional experience designing research studies, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, interpreting and visualizing data, and presenting information to a variety of audiences. Myrick’s research has been featured in 100s of media outlets worldwide and she regularly writes and speaks for public and professional audiences.
Since earning a doctorate from UNC Hussman in 2013, Myrick has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal articles as well as a solo-authored book on the role of emotions in preventative health communication. Myrick recently published a co-edited volume with Dr. Robin Nabi titled “Our Online Emotional Selves: The Link Between Digital Media and Emotional Experience” with Oxford University Press.
Myrick is a senior clinical scientist at Cook Research Incorporated, serving Cook Medical’s vascular division, working collaboratively to address pressing healthcare issues on a global scale.
