Students majoring outside the school may earn a minor in the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Priority will be given to students who have previously taken two or more MEJO courses within their desired concentration.
Interested students must apply between August 15 and October 1, preferably during their sophomore or junior year. Preference is given to students with a 3.4 cumulative GPA or higher.
Please note that it is strongly recommended that you have an established UNC GPA prior to applying.
Applicants designate one of two minor concentrations offered within the school: Advertising/Public Relations (APR) and Journalism (JRN). Prerequisites must be met for selected minor courses. MEJO minors do not need to take the Usage and Grammar test as part of their minor requirements.
In addition to the program requirements listed below, students must:
- Complete at least 15 credit hours with C grades or better in MEJO courses.
- Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 in the minor core requirements.
For specific courses listings, please consult the degree requirements section of the undergraduate catalog.
