Turning headlines into humor

UNC Hussman alumnus Bryan Tucker ’93 has written for Saturday Night Live for 20 years. During his time there, he’s had to find humor through four different presidents, an economic crisis, a pandemic and two Duke basketball championships. It wasn’t always easy. 

In this seminar, Tucker takes students through some of the news events of the past two decades and gives insight on how SNL approached those events as comedy fodder for millions of viewers. Tucker will show clips and provide a firsthand look at the decisions and process of turning news into sketches.
