Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards 2018
Each year, the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media recognizes faculty and staff members for their commitment to excellence and their contributions to the school. The 2018 faculty and staff excellence awards were presented Wednesday, May 9, at a breakfast in the Freedom Forum Conference Center.
The winners are as follows:
Edward Vick Prize for Innovation in Teaching
Recipient: Chris Roush (not pictured)
Recipient: Steven King (pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recognizes creativity and innovation in teaching that meaningfully enhances student learning experiences.
David Brinkley Teaching Excellence Award
Recipient: Joe Cabosky (pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recognizes excellence in teaching and a commitment to helping students inside and outside the classroom.
Richard Cole Service Award
Recipient: Lois Boynton (on left, pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recipient: Livis Freeman (on right, pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recognizes one junior and one senior faculty member who each strive to create a collaborative culture within the school. The award honors dean emeritus Richard Cole, whose service and commitment has made the school what it is today.
Val Lauder Award for Teaching
Recipient: Adam Hochberg (pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recognizes an adjunct, instructor or other non- full-time faculty member for excellence in teaching.
Staff Excellence Award
Recipient: Tania Osborn (on left, pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recipient: John Turner (on right, pictured with Dean Susan King)
Recognizes teamwork, creativity, commitment, flexibility and a positive attitude. The winner becomes the school’s nominee for a University staff award.
