Watch Bryan Tucker’s UNC Hussman commencement address 

UNC Hussman alumnus and Saturday Night Live Senior Writer Bryan Tucker ’93 delivered a poignant commencement address to the school’s Class of 2026 on May 9 in Carmichael Arena. 

Drawing on his own path after graduation, Tucker encouraged graduates to embrace uncertainty, hold onto hope and stay persistent even if success doesn’t come right away. 

He also challenged conventional commencement advice, urging students not just to “forge their own path,” but to seek out community, build meaningful relationships and fully commit to the people and passions that matter most to them. 

Tucker closed by reminding graduates that the connections they’ve formed at Carolina and UNC Hussman will sustain them long after graduation and may be their greatest source of success.
