Morgan Ray, M.A., CCC, is a higher education career development professional with more than 15 years of experience empowering students through career coaching, experiential learning, employer engagement and professional development. She is joining the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as the Assistant Director of Career Services within the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, where she will provide career coaching, support career exploration and facilitate experiential learning opportunities to connect students’ academic experiences to meaningful professional pathways.

Prior to joining UNC-Chapel Hill, Morgan served nearly five years at Shaw University as Director of Experiential Learning and Career Development, where she expanded internship opportunities, strengthened employer partnerships, revitalized the university’s Study Abroad program and secured nearly $300,000 in grant funding to advance career readiness, financial literacy, professional development and student success. She also served as the Study Abroad Liaison and the Liaison for the Center for Financial Advancement Scholars Program, supporting global engagement and academic excellence.

Morgan earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Elizabeth City State University and a Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a concentration in Career Counseling from North Carolina Central University. Her professional experience includes roles at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, UNC-Chapel Hill at the School of Nursing, Wake Technical Community College and other higher education institutions across North Carolina.

Recognized for her leadership and commitment to student success, Morgan was named CFA Scholars Program Liaison of the Year in 2024, received the North Carolina Career Development Association New Professionals Award in 2024 and acknowledged as an Honoree by the Raleigh Links for International Trends and Services. Her work is grounded in a commitment to holistic career development, equitable access to professional opportunities, lifelong learning and helping students identify and achieve their fullest potential.

Outside of her professional work, Morgan enjoys spending time with 15 year old daughter, honoring her late husband Harry, playing tennis, theme park hopping, cruising and watching Marvel and Disney movies.
