As the School winners, Neffa and Regalia each receive $50. Their entries will be submitted to the national competition. The top prize in that competition is a $2,000 scholarship.

Neffa, a junior from Raleigh, and Regalia, a senior from Raleigh, wrote their winning profiles for Blue & White magazine.

The Hearst Awards, founded in 1960, honors the best work of undergraduate journalists. The annual competition includes six categories in writing.

The next category is Spot News. The deadline for submitting entries is noon Thursday, March 27.
