Students earn 21 Mark of Excellence Awards

Carolina students have won 21 regional Mark of Excellence Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for collegiate journalism during the 2006 calendar year.

More than 3,300 entries in 39 categories were submitted from across SPJ's 12 regions.

The honorees were awarded certificates on March 31 during the Spring Conference at Virginia Commonwealth University. First-place regional winners will advance to the national round of judging. Winners will be announced in mid-May.
