TABJ to host social media panel on April 18

The Triangle Association of Black Journalists (TABJ) will host “The Role of Journalists in Social Media” from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 18. The panel discussion will be held in the Carroll Hall Auditorium.

The discussion will cover the role journalists play in social media. The panel will be moderated by veteran journalist and author Beverly Mahone. Featured panelists include: Kim Green, newsroom manager, WNCN 17; Pat Howlett, founder of insideareacodes.com; Paul Jones, clinical associate professor in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, and director of iBiblio; Wayne Sutton, social media strategist and one of twitter’s top 100 users with 35,000 followers; and iContact community manager James Wong.
   
TABJ is sponsoring this event to inform the community about the emergence of social media, which has created a new definition of journalism.

The panel is free and open to the community and other college students. It is co-sponsored by the Carolina Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) and the NCCU Association of Black Journalists (NCCUABJ).
