About the event
Chris Wallace, anchor of Fox News Sunday, will give this year’s Roy H. Park Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, April 6, at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. The lecture — America Under President Trump: A View From Washington — will be held in the Carroll Hall auditorium beginning at 5 p.m.
The Roy H. Park Distinguished Lecture Series began in October 1999. Sponsored by the Triad Foundation of Ithaca, N.Y., the lectures enhance the Roy H. Park Fellowship Program that began in the school in fall 1997. The fellowships go to new doctoral and master's students in the school each year.
The lecture series brings outstanding professionals to the campus each year with the goal of enriching the educational experience of undergraduate and graduate students, and presenting speakers of interest to the campus and beyond.
The lecture series honors Roy H. Park, the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Park Communications Inc., which became an expansive multimedia company with broadcast and print properties throughout the U.S.

Ryan Thornburg is an associate professor and director the school’s Reese News Lab, an experimental media and research project that focuses on developing and testing new ideas for the media industry. He spent his professional career in the newsroom focusing on online journalism. He was the managing editor of USNews.com, managing editor for Congressional Quarterly’s website and the national/international editor for The Washington Post’s website. His work in online media contributed to several professional awards, including seven EPPY awards for his work with washingtonpost.com. |

Sharon Nunn is a senior from Houston, Texas, majoring in broadcast journalism and Chinese. She covers North Carolina policy for WRAL in Raleigh, anchors Carolina Week and is the president of the Carolina Association of Black Journalists. Previously, she worked for Al Jazeera in Beijing and was an assistant editor for The Daily Tar Heel’s state and national desk. She will intern with The Wall Street Journal in Washington, D.C., this summer. |

Maggie Blunk is a Roy H. Park Fellow at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media working toward a master’s degree in strategic communication. She is a reporter for the school’s award-winning Carolina Connection radio program. Blunk has experience working on political campaigns and spent a year in the Office of Federal Relations at UNC General Administration.
