Why give?

If you're wondering why to give, remember the incredible things produced in this building.

Assistant Professor Steven King takes us through the Hussman School via Facebook Live to visit the virtual reality lab, a live 3D design class and our innovation lab, among other favorite spots. Also, meet Lucille: Our very own Hussman School robot!

Give to innovation and the future of our students. Give on #TarHeelTuesday.

About the event

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a national movement that celebrates giving back.

This year, the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media is stepping up its game. Our 2016 goal is to raise $100,000 through Tar Heel Tuesday, UNC's version of the national Giving Tuesday movement.

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 12:00 a.m. and continuing until 11:59 p.m. EST, you can join fellow alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends in expressing what this school means to you and showing the world what a difference our collective support can make. Your gift is a vote of confidence in the work that we do.

All Hussman School seniors are encouraged to give their senior legacy campaign gift of $20.17 on Nov. 29, 2016, to help the school reach its giving goal.

#MJ10for10

In 2014, UNC raised $75K on #TarHeelTuesday — $600 of which went to the Hussman School.

In 2015, UNC raised $235.9K on #TarHeelTuesday — the Hussman School raised $81.9K.

This year, the Hussman School is stepping up its game: Our 2016 goal is to raise $100,000.

Right out of the gate, 2015 challenge grant donors Susan Credle and Frank Andrews have returned with dual $10K challenge grants: If the school can raise $20,000 in 24 hours, Credle and Andrews will match it, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000 each.

A third challenge grant donor — alumnus Rusty Carter '71 — is also donating $10K specifically to challenge those alumni who have never given to the school or who haven't given in three or more years!
