The Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life (CITAP) hosts Elizabeth Dubois as the first speaker in its Spring Speaker Series on Jan. 19, 2023, at 3 p.m. in Carroll Hall's Freedom Forum Conference Center. The event will also be livestreamed.
Dubois will be delivering a talk entitled "When hate and harassment are just a part of the job: Journalists and health communicators online." Drawing from interviews, surveys, and content analyses of tweets, this lecture shows how facing online negativity impacts public figures, as well as how negativity differs for women and racial, ethnic and religious minorities online.

Dubois is an associate professor and chair in politics, communication and technology at the University of Ottawa where she runs the Pol Comm Tech Lab and is a member of the Center for Law, Technology and Society.
