Kenton Spencer serves as the executive director of DataWorks NC, a Durham-based nonprofit data intermediary that bridges the gap between quantitative data and community stakeholders, aiding local initiatives in achieving equitable outcomes. Currently, this encompass social justice and equity issues in housing, community development, health disparity and the law. Kenton also serves as an instructor of media law at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media, sharing his expertise with the next generation of communicators. His legal areas of focus are media law, intellectual property and civil litigation. He is a former U.S. Army military officer and worked previously as a hospitality financial executive with Hilton, Mandarin Oriental and NY City Life Hotel Group and as a healthcare analyst as well. He is also an Institute of Political Leadership Fellow (2011) and served as council member and commissioner.
