Getting Started in Business News conference for students

The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media and the Carolina Business News Initiative are organizing a conference Oct. 21-23 in New York City for university students interested in a career in business journalism.

Getting Started in Business News – co-sponsored by the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Bloomberg News, the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Progress Energy – is open to undergraduate and master’s students.

There is no registration fee to attend the workshop, and meals will be provided. Students living outside of the New York City area will receive lodging at the Courtyard Times Square South. Transportation costs and other incidental expenses are the responsibility of the student.

All students must submit an application online by Friday, Sept. 10. Students will receive notification by Sept. 17 if they have been selected to attend the workshop. Each application must include a faculty recommendation.
