Journalism workshop for minority high school students scheduled for Feb. 25, 2012

The Carolina Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) and the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media will host a one-day journalism workshop for minority high school students on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 in Carroll Hall on the UNC campus. CABJ is a student collegiate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and a student organization of the school.

The purpose of the one-day journalism workshop is to give high school students exposure to the multifaceted field and study of journalism and mass communication. CABJ members will work collaboratively with participants throughout the day and participants will also have the opportunity to meet UNC faculty and area professionals to discuss writing skills and career opportunities.

Applicants should be high school juniors or seniors involved in school publications or media. Students who are generally interested in journalism careers are also encouraged to apply. Registration requires that each applicant submit a writing sample. A $25 registration fee is also required and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The application deadline for the Feb. 25 workshop is Feb. 10.
