Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Damon Winter to speak Oct. 25

The UNC-Chapel Hill student chapter of the National Press Photographers Association welcomes New York Times photojournalist Damon Winter to the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 7:30 - 9 p.m in Carroll Hall 111. The event is part of the school's monthly PhotoNight series.

Winter is an acclaimed photojournalist with awards including the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of Barack Obama's presidential campaign and the Newspaper Photographer of the Year in Pictures of the Year International. His coverage spans the globe, from covering ironworkers in New York City to the war in Afghanistan, and across a variety of media, including large format film, video and even iPhone photography.

Winter will present selections of his work and discuss the roles and responsibilities of photojournalists in the modern news world. A brief Q&A session will follow his presentation.

UNC NPPA PhotoNights are free and open to the public. Signed posters will be available before and after the presentation for $15, and a custom, signed 16"x24" print will be raffled off, with tickets sold before the presentation at $5 each or $20 for five.
