“Buckets of listening” — Hussman Ph.D. grad profiles M.A. grad Ryan Comfort, an Ojibwe social scientist and storyteller

Jessica Gall Myrick ’13 (Ph.D.) produced a profile on her “Healthy Media” blog and newsletter about the work of her fellow UNC Hussman alumnus Ryan Comfort ’14 (M.A.) — a citizen of the Keweenaw Bay Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. The two discussed the intersections of environmental and health communication within and about Indigenous communities, especially around Comfort’s work with visual media narratives.

Myrick, the Donald P. Bellisario Professor of Health Communication at Penn State, also includes her full interview with Comfort, who earned his doctoral degree at Indiana University, where he is now an assistant professor of journalism.
