Doctoral students present research at MAPOR conference in Chicago; top student paper award goes to Park Fellow Natalee Seely

Three UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media doctoral students will present their research at the 40th annual conference of the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research (MAPOR) in Chicago, Nov. 20-21, 2015.
Second-year Ph.D. Park Fellow Natalee Seely will present her paper, “Virtual Vitriol: An Analysis of Incivility within Discussion Forums of Online News Outlets.” Seely's paper MAPOR's Doris Graber Top Student Paper Award.
Third-year Ph.D. Park Fellow Kylah Hedding will present “Coalier than Thou: Cultural Identity and Politics in Appalachia” — co-authored by the school’s Richard Cole Eminent Professor Daniel Riffe, who is accompanying the students to the conference.
Third-year Park Ph.D. Fellow Justin Blankenship will present “I Know They Can Do It! The Relationship between Issue Ownership by Political Parties and Epistemic Political Efficacy” — also co-authored by Riffe.
MAPOR is regional chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) made up of university and college faculty members, professional practitioners, governmental researchers and graduate students.
