“It became apparent to me that I wasn’t just going to learn skill sets; I was going to be gaining perspectives.”

On the tenth anniversary of the Chuck Stone Program for Diversity in Education and Media, Hanna Wondmagegn and 11 other high school students came from across the U.S. to the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media to learn, grow and challenge themselves. The program emphasizes diversity, but the kind of diversity that Stone, a longtime UNC journalism professor, stressed with his life’s work—diversity of not only race or socioeconomic status, but of gender, thought and more.

The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media announced July 14, 2016, that a gift from Capitol Broadcasting Company will support the Stone Program for the next four years.
