Research with Impact: UNC J-school at ICA 2014 in Seattle

Faculty, graduate students and alumni will represent the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the International Communication Association’s (ICA) 64th annual conference in Seattle May 22-26.

The Carolina contingent will present papers and participate on panels.

ICA is an academic association for scholars interested in the study, teaching and application of all aspects of human and mediated communication. ICA began more than 50 years ago as a small association of U.S. researchers and now has more than 4,800 members in 77 countries.

Assistant professor Daniel Kreiss has helped to organize and the school is co-sponsoring a May 22 pre-conference on qualitative political communication research at Washington University. The pre-conference will focus on how qualitative research can lead to new analytical and empirical understandings of contemporary political communication processes, from the changing forms of journalism and campaigns to the new platforms and contexts where citizens gather and create political information.
