UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media alumna Claudia Howard '03 is currently the global brand manager at The Weather Company, spearheading strategy and execution of marketing efforts to optimize the user experience, and grow and retain the user base for digital and mobile products with partners in various global markets. A seasoned marketing professional with extensive experience in the entertainment, sports and media sectors, Howard has served in various marketing roles throughout her career, including integrated marketing, consumer marketing and event marketing.

Previously, Howard served as a brand director at FOX Sports 1, with marketing oversight of Super Bowl XLVIII, BIG EAST College Basketball, Red Bull Events and the NFL. Prior to her time at FOX, Howard worked at Turner Broadcasting Systems for over a decade as senior director of marketing for Turner Broadcasting’s Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media (AYAKM) group. In this role, Howard managed the development and execution of custom integrated programs for advertisers across Cartoon Network and Adult Swim’s multiple platforms. She also managed the AYAKM event marketing team, overseeing consumer, trade and internal event, and oversaw Trade Marketing efforts for both brands.

Howard earned her MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from the Hussman School.

While at Carolina, Howard was a part of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and American Advertising Federation (AAF). She also worked at Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB) as a part of the 4A's Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) and Webb Patterson Communications, her first foray into the advertising world.
