UNC Hussman in the news: Tech from Steven King, Reese Innovation Lab, encourages safe behavior at sporting events

UNC Hussman Associate Professor Steven King, head of the Reese Innovation Lab, has been in the news this week for his innovative work using artificial intelligence to attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus at large events. Led by King, students and staff at Reese have teamed up with Lenovo to design 'Health Greeter Kiosks.' The digital displays use artificial intelligence to detect if people are wearings masks or social distancing. UNC-Chapel Hill is using the kiosks as audiences return to football games at Kenan Memorial Stadium. You can see WRAL's report on King's work below, or read more about the kiosks in action via the News & Observer or the Triangle Business Journal.
