UNC multimedia students win NPPA Best of Photojournalism honors

UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media students won three awards — two for "100 Gallons" — in the multimedia categories of the 2013 National Press Photographers Association’s Best of Photojournalism contest

"100 Gallons" — an interactive website that explores how water powers life — won second place in the multimedia package category behind The Los Angeles Times, which also took third place in the category.

Jon Kasbe, a senior, received honorable mentions in the feature multimedia story category for "A Beautiful Waste," produced for "100 Gallons," and for "Not At Home," produced for "Living Galapagos."

Arkasha Stevenson, a 2010 alumna, won second place in the sports multimedia story category for the Los Angeles Times' "A Day for a King."

In the 2012 Best of Photojournalism multimedia competition, the school placed third in the multimedia package category for "Reframing Mexico."
