Larry and Carolyn Keith Awards

Awarded to three students in the school who have demonstrated excellence in one of the following areas: sports writing, sports photojournalism and sports multimedia.

These awards honor Larry Keith, former editorial projects director of Sports Illustrated, and Carolyn Keith, a former picture editor for the magazine. Larry Keith is a 1969 graduate of the School of Journalism and has been a reporter, writer and editor at Sports Illustrated. He was named assistant managing editor in 1985 and editorial projects director in 1987. Keith developed the editorial prospectus for Sports Illustrated for Kids.  In 1991, he received the Time Inc. Magazine Company President’s Award. Carolyn Keith earned her master’s degree in English literature from the University of Chicago in 1972 and was a picture editor at Sports Illustrated until 1977.
