Photojournalism exhibit features images by Carolina students37th Frame

“The 37th Frame” photojournalism exhibit features more than 50 images by student photographers in the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.

The annual exhibit displays the best work of Carolina photojournalism students. This year, the FedEx Global Education Center is co-sponsoring the exhibit with by the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. The exhibit will be on view through April 30 in the FedEx Center (Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and Carroll Hall (Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

The exhibition includes picture stories and single images. Candid moments of children playing after school in Patagonia, an inside look at the spirituality of Thai monks, and extraordinary images of ordinary life in Chapel Hill are among the dozens of photographs.

“Our students produce compelling, real life photojournalism. In many cases, the stories told through their images are not being told in any other medium. The students' work reflects humanity in a unique and intimate way, and we're excited to share their imagery through this exhibition,” said associate professor Patrick Davison, who developed the first 37th Frame exhibit in 2002 and continues to supervise the show.

A team of student curators chose that highlight the photographers' understanding of light, moment, composition and visual reporting. Student curators also designed the layout of the images before printing them on state-of-the-art facilities in the J-school.
