Gregg Found wins school's Hearst competition for sports, advances to nationals

Gregg FoundGregg Found is the school’s winner in the sports category of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

As the school winner, Found wins $50. His entry will be submitted to the national competition. The top prize in that competition is a $2,000 scholarship.

Found, a senior from Iowa City, Iowa, wrote a story about the Tar Heels women’s basketball team winning the ACC Tournament. The story was published in The Daily Tar Heel.

The Hearst Awards, founded in 1960, honors the best work of undergraduate journalists. The annual competition includes six categories in writing.

The next category will be personality/profile. The deadline for entering that category is noon on Thursday, Feb. 21.
