Cairo and students take bronze in international infographics competition

Assistant Professor Alberto Cairo and infographics students in the school won two bronze medals at Malofiej 17, an international infographics competition, in Pamplona, Spain. The awards were for work on the multimedia documentary projects “Atacama Stories” and “Chasing Crusoe.”

“This is the most important infographics competition in the world,” said visual communication Professor Rich Beckman. “And our students are the only students in the world to place in the competition.”

In all, two gold medals, eight silver medals and 22 bronze medals were awarded. The New York Times took both gold medals. The silver medals were won by The New York Times, El Mundo, the BBC, Reuters, El Pais and hiru.com.
