Capstrat Endows Scholarship at UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media

Capstrat, a strategic communications firm with offices in Raleigh and Washington, D.C., has endowed a $100,000 scholarship for students at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – a program that supports diversity and is consistently rated among the best journalism programs in the country. Two Capstrat scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded annually.

The Capstrat Scholarship, initiated by CEO Ken Eudy, a 1975 graduate of the school, is intended to encourage diversity among public relations professionals and increase educational and employment opportunities for minority and disadvantaged students. The scholarship recipients will also have the opportunity to intern at Capstrat. All students in the school are eligible, with a particular focus on students with a demonstrated interest in new media, multimedia, media planning, advertising or public relations.

“We’re honored to have the resources to endow this scholarship,” said Eudy. “Supporting the development of communications professionals with diverse backgrounds and experiences is critical to creating opportunities for individuals to succeed.”

“Capstrat’s gift will increase access for minority students to growing sectors of the communications field—political communications and public relations,” said Dr. Jean Folkerts, dean of the school. Gifts such as Capstrat’s are instrumental in allowing the Hussman School of Journalism and Media to reach its goals. We are continuously grateful for loyal alumni like Mr. Eudy and their dedication to the school.”
