Carolina leads nation with four SPJ Mark of Excellence national winners

UNC journalism students led the nation with national winners in four categories of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards recognizing collegiate work published or broadcasted during 2009.

Carolina took top honors in the online feature reporting, online news reporting, best all-around radio newscast, and television in-depth reporting categories. (Only the University of Minnesota equaled Carolina with four national wins among four-year colleges and universities.)

UNC students were national finalists in two other categories – best independent online student publication and best all-around daily student newspaper.
