Public relations students win NCPRSA Award of Excellence

Four UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media public relations students were recognized at the North Carolina Public Relations Society of America (NCPRSA) 2011 Inspire Awards dinner on May 11.  The students – Amy Dobrzynski, Stacy Merrick, Hannah Harrill and Elizabeth Graper – received an Award of Excellence for their grassroots campaign "Grow Your Green" designed to educate women on financial literacy.

The dinner was held at the Brier Creek Country Club. Sarah Lamm, NCPRSA president and member of the school's Journalism Alumni and Friends Association (JAFA) board, officiated. WTVD-TV anchor and community affairs specialist Angela Hampton presented the award.  This is the second consecutive year that UNC J-school PR students received the award.

J-school faculty Queenie Byars and Nori Comello and lecturer Valerie Fields served as mentors for the team during the school year to develop the award-winning campaign.
